I think this book is okay so far. It will probably get very interesting as the book goes on. One think that really irritates me is the "phony" thing. I hate how he always says he hates phony people when he is phony. The first sentence of chapter three says that he is the best liar you will ever meet. And when he was with Mr. Spencer he kept giving fake, proper responses that he didn't mean.
I have mix feelings about Salinger as a writer. In one aspect I like him because I feel connected to the main character because it gives his every thought but I don't like how he is redundant. I think that he says some words a little too much like "boy" and "phony". Overall, I am willing to give this book a chance because I think it will get very interesting.

Morrie Assignment 1/26/09
I thought that the movie and book were similar for the most part. The plot was very much the same. Morrie looked similar in the movie with the actual Morrie. Mitch resembled how I pictured also.
The movie put a lot more stress on Mitch and his girlfriend than the book did. The book had a lot more emphasis on Morrie rather than the movie's main plot point of marriage.

Morrie Interview
My reaction to the video was what I expected. Morrie seemed very smart and like a very nice man. I was caught off guard a little bit when he made his openning remark to Ted, saying "You are a narcissist". It made him seem a little mean but towards the end of the interview I felt like I really got to know him and no longer found him abrasive. The interview saddened me in a way. To see such an honest, bright man that is aware his is about to die makes me sad.
Seeing this interview helps me with reading the book. I had an idea of Morrie, like Alfred from the early Batman movies, but to know how he really looks gives me a great visual. I really like this book, it is one of those books that I don't want to stop reading.
